Since its inception three years ago, the DC Perinatal Quality Collaborative (DC PQC) has been a major force for improving maternity care through collaborative and multidisciplinary engagement with hospitals, providers, and community leaders. All hospitals have united to implement the Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health care bundles on hypertension/preeclampsia and postpartum hemorrhage—key contributors to maternal morbidity and mortality in our city. Through the development of robust data systems, using hospital discharge and demographic data, the DC PQC has been able to track the improvements in maternal care resulting from these programs.

At the heart of these efforts is a primary focus on recognizing and combating the negative impacts of systemic racism and social inequity on maternal and child health. This is achieved through community-centered webinars, speakers, and focus groups that ensure the right voices are heard. We are incredibly proud to shine light on this vital work, which reflects a deep commitment to creating positive change and ensuring better futures for the individuals and families we serve. Together, we can continue to make a meaningful impact and build healthier, stronger communities.
