Men’s Basketball Team at Howard University is Supporting Black Maternal Health in Washington, DC

The Howard University men’s basketball team chose to support Black Maternal health as their social justice project for the 2022-2023 season. Following the reversal of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion, the team decided to use their platform to advocate for maternal health and Black women, who disproportionately experience poor maternal health outcomes. Alongside Mamatoto Village, the team hosted a special event for Martin Luther King Day to help package pregnancy care kits.

The team plans to continue this work and support maternal health initiatives in the District.
