American Heart Association Releases New Research on the Importance of Heart Health Before Pregnancy

A new report released by the American Heart Association found that a woman’s heart health before getting pregnant is strongly tied to the risk of developing pregnancy related complications and long term cardiovascular health of both mother and child. This research draws attention to the importance of improving women’s heart health throughout the childbearing years, starting in early childhood. Improving maternal heart health is a step towards breaking the generational cycle of poor heart health that disproportionately affects Black women in the US.
